Ysanne is depicted as a ravishingly beautiful woman asleep in a bed of clouds and stars. Her long Brown tresses flow beneath her. Her smile is that of sweet dreams.

History/Relationships:

Ysanne is literally the dreaming goddess. She seldom awakens to interact with other deities. Still, she is on good terms with Yrinith as she carries inspiration with her dreams. She also works with Tirith delivering healing dreams to non-physical wounds. Ysanne opposes Crylla and Rakoth as beings which bring destroy dreams.

Dogma:

The dream is a figment of what can be. The journey of the faithful is to make the dream become word. Help others see and realize their dreams. Interpret dreams for any who ask your help. Use hope to combat those who shatter dreams; there is naught is to be gained from physical aggressiveness. Train to defend yourself and others.

Clergy and Temples:

Ysanne’s temples are always built near freshwater, preferably an unspoiled lake.  Her temples are built with large reflecting pools and moving streams of water, silent except for the calming movement of water. Ysanne welcomes only women into her fold. Her clergy eschew the use of armor and shield, and only under dire circumstances will pick up a weapon. Ysannans also have little use for the spoken word; their mistress comes to them in dreams. They take vows of silence upon becoming clerics which can only be released at the permission of the high priestess of a temple. Ysanne, however, does not leave her faithful voiceless; all Ysannans possess a limited form of telepathy which they exercise by meeting the gaze of those to whom they would speak. a Ysannan dresses in flowing blue robes, sometimes decorated with silver images of clouds and stars. The priestesses of dream are seldom seen outside their temples where they spend most of their time in contemplation. They welcome visitors seeking illumination of the goddess’ sendings and freely offer interpretations of dreams. When they do leave the solitude of their temple walls, they are accompanied by Dreamers, the monastic order which strives for mental perfection through contemplation. It is said that when threatened, the Dreamers become nightmares.

Special Abilities:

All clergy of Ysanne gain the silent spell feat for free. The feat may be added to any spell the priestess casts. Clerics of Ysanne can make limited telepathic contact with beings by meeting their eyes. This power does not, however, grant them access to probe another’s thoughts. Unwanted contact can be terminated at will. Ysannan clergy gain special abilities as they progress in their dedication to the Mistress of Reverie. Unless otherwise specified, these powers are supernatural abilities usable at will by the caster only.
