Gylwyn is depicted as a young man with flowing blond hair held back by a fillet. Gylwyn’s eyes are always bright with excitement. He is deeply tanned and carries a quarterstaff. Gylwyn wears red robes dulled with the dirt of the road. The flowing of his robes suggests rapid movement. Gylwyn is normally depicted with sandaled feet, sometimes with wings.

History/Relationships:

Gylwyn is on excellent terms with Dalt, whom he considers a brother. Gylwyn frequently deals with Liranan and Gliddan, and the three of them are on good terms. Gylwyn’s interest in hospitality allies him with members of the LG pantheon. Gylwyn maintains a neutral outlooks with most other deities with the exceptions of Avaia and Maugram, both of whom disrupt the lives and livelihoods of those who rely on travel. Gylwyn’s clerics do not crusade against the mechanizations of Avaia and Maugram, but they do not miss a presented opportunity to harass and destroy their influences.

Dogma:

A sedimentary lifestyle is equivalent to death. The lands are filled with wonders to be experienced firsthand, not through the reflections of words and pages. Travel frees the mind and soul; let nothing tie you down from the opportunity to travel. Give hospitality to all on their roads; expect hospitality in return. Aid all travelers in distress, and protect them from creatures which prey on the roads.

Clergy and Temples:

Gylwyn does not support temples. The largest structures are shrines, and those are normally found along the roadsides rather than in cities. Within cities, Gylwynites tend to wander public areas, like marketplaces and bazaars. Gylwynites are easily spotted by the red robes they wear and the quaterstaves they always carry. Gylwynites do not wear heavy armor or carry loads which hinder their ability to travel freely. The appearance of a red-robed traveler on the road causes rejoicing to those in distress. Any who would impersonate this dress for deception find themselves on the end of a Gylwynite’s staff. The calling of Gylwyn always comes on the road and is usually heralded by the timely appearance of a cleric. those who accept the calling leave all but what they can carry and travel with their new mentor as they learn the ways of the wanderer. When the time comes for a new cleric to be welcomed into the fold, all Gylwynites in the area meet at a crossroads and bless their newest member.
