Description:

Dana is depicted as a stunningly beautiful woman with flowing red hair wreathed in flames. Her age varies from a young virgin to matronly figure. She is typically depicted in flowing robes.

History/Relationships:

Dana is the mother of Ceiwen, although Ceiwen has no father. She numbers no allies among male deities but does consider Nemain as a daughter and counts Boreala as an ally. She grudgingly tolerates Dumathoin's presence because of the large number s of dwarves who revere fire and the forge. Her demanding temper leaves her distant to most other deities. She directly opposes all machinations of Fordaetha at every turn.

Dogma:

All women bleed to bring forth life and are to be considered scared and revered. Until men bleed, they are only useful in the creation of daughters. A strong woman is ruled by no man and carries the Bloodmother's fire in her veins.

Clergy and Temples:

All Danites are female. Temples are found in most major cities, primarily in the warmer, Southern regions. The great northern city of Eyrir is an exception; Danites founded their presence there stemming a massive humanoid invasion. It is thought they remain their solely to vex Fordaetha and her plans. Men are not allowed beyond the temple courtyard, and only that far if they offer blood to the goddess. Danites are celebrate for the year, save one day (Libre 1 - The Day of Spilling), where they abandon their vows of celibacy for one wild night of passion. All children born from these pregnancies are female. Danites eschew armor and shields, preferring to rely on magical protections when they enter combat. Favored weapons are the staff and dagger. Bloodletting is central to many Danite rituals.

Danites pray for spells in the morning, loosing a single drop of blood into a bowl as they worship.
