Description:

Serenca is depicted as a carefree, young woman with long, flowing hair and bare feet. Her hair and waist are wreathed in gold and jewels. Sometimes she bears fanned sets of cards in each hand.

History/Relationships:

Serenca is beloved of all the gods to some extent, save her evil sister Murphas, as she favors none above the others and all worshippers would prefer to see her smile in their endeavors. She rarely has any direct contact in divine affairs. However, she was recently responsible for aiding Zhormallion in regaining his lost favor from Sestihaculas. In doing so, her sister lost favor and power; this has added even more fuel to the fire between them. The clerics of both deities are embroiled in holy war on behalf of their deities.

Dogma:

Fortune comes and goes to all men as part of a larger cycle not meant for mortal understanding. To know the blessings of luck is to have tasted misfortune. Fortune favors no man at all times. The greater the risk, the greater the gain. The bolder the risk, the more likely to attract the lady’s smile. All plans go awry, so all men must rely on luck at one time or another. Place yourself in the hands of fate, and trust to your own luck.

Clergy and Temples:

Serenca has a huge following which ebbs and flows with her followers’ fortunes. Shrines to Lady Luck can be found in most villages and alongside major roads, while larger cities have temples. The temples of Serenca are places of gaiety and spontaneity, serving as meeting places for adventurers to share their exploits. Temples often stock up on adventuring supplies to outfit groups for the greatest chance of returning to honor the Lady with further exploits and coin. The clergy of Serenca wander their flocks, freely giving to those who are in need and fortunate enough to cross their paths. Some savvy city administrators are enlisting the aid of the Serencans in overseeing gambling within their cities. The cities and temples gain from the tax moneys, and the patrons profit from knowing they wager within fairly conducted games. Those who cheat under such circumstances are quickly routed. Serenca accepts both men and women freely into her service and welcomes all races among her faithful. Serencans have no set strictures to dress, arms, or armor outside those which apply to all clerics. The calling to serve Serenca comes from some lucky event which spares the recipient’s life and leaves him/her feeling the call. Serenca engages a few paladins in her employ. Her paladins wander the lands righting wrongs related to those who cheat fate. Serencans are forbidden to use spells or effects which curse or bring ill fortune, as those powers draw on Murphas. Adventuring clerics are often worshippers of Serenca. The Lady holds no restriction on her followers bearing any other class, and there are many cleric/rogues of Lady Luck wandering the land. Likewise, any prestige class which does not involve the use of ill fortune is available to those who qualify.

Special Abilities:

Serencans may call upon their Lady to add a +1 to any die roll once per day, even after the roll is made. This luck is one way Serenca demonstrates her power to the world.

Sacred prayers of Serenca:

Serenca makes special prayers available to her faithful.

Rituals:

Serenca offers no special rituals to her followers to permanently augment their skills, to do so would reduce their dependence on luck.
