Description:

Yrinith is depicted as a middle-aged man with long black hair and piercing blue eyes. Dressed in finery and bedecked in jewels, Yrinith holds a golden harp. Yrinith’s head is usually depicted in an aura representative of inspiration.

History/Relationships:

Yrinith has many allies and few foes. His sister is Ysanne, and they share the responsibilities of inspiring mortals. He considers Killip as a son, and Killip serves as his herald nearly as often as his daughter Drebe. Yrinith views magic as an art and favors the faithful of the triad (Gavriel, Amairgen, and Metran). The triad do not always share the level of his enthusiasm in inspiring mages to new heights. He and Boreala share the deep love of beauty and passion, and the good fortune he brings puts him on good terms with Serenca. Yrinith opposes every aspect of Rakoth and the destruction he brings. His clergy are the among the first to restore and rebuild what has been destroyed. He opposes Raistrick on similar grounds, spreading love and light to counter darkness and hate. He dislikes Crylla and the despair she brings but does not actively oppose her, as he sees the role that pain can play in creation. Crylla, on the other hand, would see all of the hope Yrinith brings utterly crushed.

Dogma:

Art is life; life is art. Following the creative process accomplishes both. Appreciate the contributions of all the arts. Look deep to find beauty in all things. When touched, create art to inspire others to create. Oppose destruction, especially of things of beauty. Smite the hand that destroys art, for it destroys life, hope, and inspiration.

Clergy and Temples:

Temples of Yrinith are grand affairs on prominent display in all major cities. Since their construction draws upon the finest artisans and craftsmen, it is no wonder. Temples are always in competition with other Yrinites to make their structures even grander. Services rely heavily on music and performance, again with the finest performers/clergy/worshippers available. Temples sponsor or house exhibits and artists; a temple of Yrinith has some service or festival running at most hours of the day and night. Priests of Yrinith wear ornate robes while in their temples; rank corresponds to color. Initiates wear white then move through the spectrum to deep shades of purple as they advance. In the field, Yrinites wear ornate armor (usually masterwork) and carry ornate, masterwork weapons. All Yrinites work to master one art form as a service to their lord. Multiclass bards and mages (with magic as an art form) are not uncommon. Yrinites pray for their spells at no set time. It is up to the individual to pray when he/she feels the inspiration to praise the Father. Yrinith welcomes both men and women into his ranks as well as gnomes, dwarves, and elves. Yrinith maintains small knighthoods of paladins, usually tied to major temples. These organizations are responsible for protecting major works of art and bringing justice to defilers.
