Cosmology

The world of Aldernon has one sun and two moons. The greater moon is Jolara; it is white and follows a 30 day cycle. The smaller red moon, The Spindle, runs a 90 day cycle and is full only on the equinoxes and solstices. There are two equinoxes, the summer and winter (reversed from Earth's), and two solstices, the fall and spring. These occur on the 15th of the month they fall into and are traditionally the commencement of week long festivals. The calendar consists of 12 months of 30 days each. The festivals and holidays which are known worldwide are listed on the universal calendar.  Different regions and religions maintain additional holidays.

All types of terrain exist on Aldernon from desert to tropical rainforest.  At present, three continents are known. The largest is Gondere, roughly a million square miles in area, though not yet fully mapped. The second continent is Fathrin, whose area covers approximately 400,000 square miles. Last are the Marinose Isles, a series of subtropical volcanic islands with an area of 7500 square miles. Marinose was the most recently discovered major land mass and has been colonized primarily through the actions of the druids.
