The grip is wrapped in white dragon leather. The blade is carved from the front fang of the white wyrm, Aryl. It is curving and single-edged. An architecture of mithril filaments vein from the blade to the shaft.

History:

The making of this highly enchanted weapon was commissioned by the Fighter Wylind through the arch-mage Dentar in 864CY. Dentar hired a powerful group of adventurers to bring him the fang of an ancient dragon, brought down without the use of magic, to form the head of the axe as well as the bones of the most powerful frost giant they could find within the Cloudtalons. This group, known as Drago’s Raiders, located the lair of Aryl and slew her. Aryl was the mate of Tfargas, whose wrath would mean the end of both Dentar and Drago’s Raiders. Dentar forged the axe, traveling to the para-elemental plane of ice to strengthen the spells he laid upon it. The axe turned out more powerful than he had imagined, due mainly to a splinter of the dragon’s personae that lingered in the tooth. The axe maintained many draconian-like powers but possessed unexpected evil tendencies. As a result of this, Wylind refused the weapon, uncomfortable with its domineering personality. Meanwhile, Tfargas had awakened from slumber and found his mate slain. He went on a rampage, the nearby city of Eyrir the first to feel his ire. He was driven away from the city by the Mayoress and Mouth of Dana with both fire and suggestions of the location of the party who had slain his mate. Tfargas tracked the group east, eventually locating and destroying Dentar and his tower. Tfargas was seen heading south after that, the axe in one claw and the body of Dentar in the other. It is assumed that he located and destroyed all of Drago’s Raiders; any who remained of that band never admitted it after that. Wylind retired from his position in the Empire’s government and moved, presumable south to the warmest clime he could find. His end is also unknown.

Arylsfange disappeared until she was claimed from the hoarde of Tfargas by a group of adventurers hired by Exilaster the Red of Eyrir. The party, led by Maluek, the Lost Prince, took the greataxe along with a lion’s share of the treasure. Arylsfange was wielded by the warrior Ericson Blackwell, but he was plagued by personality conflicts with the weapon which sought to have its spirit released back into a new body. When Ericson will began to erode under the constant assault of Aryl, he sought aid from the Witches of Rastaman. The weapon was last seen in Ericson’s possession, so the Witches intervention must have been successful. What price was paid is unknown, but the weapon no longer contains the spirit of Aryl.

Flamedrinker

Description:

Flamedrinker’s blade appears to be made from beaten bronze but is razor sharp and never dulls. It is rustproof. The crossguard is formed by a pair of dragons facing heads out, each with a garnet in its mouth (200gp); they entwine together to form the hilt, and their tails lace around a large ruby (5000gp) in the hilt. When the sword is drawn, black flames lick along the blade.

or takes 1hp per day from the wielder if there has been no melee in a 24 hour period and the sword is not full.

History:

The blade known as Flamedrinker was forged by the azer and enchanted by the mage Reling. Reling contracted the azer to forge the blade for unknown reasons in 126CY. The blade was first given to a lieutenant of Lord Oragorn’s army for use in driving the giants and other creatures of the Cloudtalons back beyond the lands claimed by the Hethaemiiran Empire. The sword disappeared during one of these forays, when the army was besieged by a mixed band of frost and cloud giants. Flamedrinker sat locked within a treasure chest until the giant stronghold was raided by a group of adventurers in 336CY. The group known as Darkhelm took the treasure to the south with them to Aldernon where the blade was identified and its description recorded in the diaries of the loremaster Saundovar. The sword was wielded by the fighter Astlan Darkhelm until his retirement. It was passed to his eldest son, Houras who worked with a mercenary band guarding merchant caravans between Aldernon, Caesura, and the northern cities of The Empire. The sword was lost during a freak winter storm, perhaps summoned weather, and was recovered by a party in the spring of 419CY. Flamedrinker was taken by the rogue Zand and used for a few years before their mismatched ethics caused Zand to sell the blade in Caesura for another enchanted weapon. Flamedrinker was purchased by the warrior Gambol, then Captain of the Night Watch, and became a permanent part of the city’s arsenal in firefighting as well as keeping order. The sword remained in the city arsenal until 856CY, when it was stolen from the body of assassinated city officer. The sword entered the underworld market and was acquired by the rogue Launwynn the Deft and used in the plundering of the Fordaethan temple at Icehead. Launwynn had been contracted to steal the Glacon Scrolls for an unidentified third party, and though successful in the theft, he was hunted down and destroyed by the Daughters of the Frostmaiden. The sword was not among his possessions when he was taken in Purlphial. It had, in fact, been traded to the guild of that city to get Launwynn sanctuary from Eyrir. Flamedrinker next surfaced when it was traded to the temple of Erden in Eyrir in exchange for reversing the aging from an encounter with a ghost in 912CY. The blade went with its wielder back into the wilderness and disappeared again. In 1009CY, an elf named Rilifane traded the sword to the clergy of Rhoden in Caesura in trade for restoration of his life energies after an encounter with undead. The sword was once again put in possession of the Night Watch Captain of Caesura, this time a warrioress named Emilé. It passed among the Night Watch Captains as a symbol of office until 1038CY when the blade was stolen from the home of the Night Watch Captain Moeller by thieves and passed into the possession of the bard Hawke. Hawke returned the blade to Caesura once he realized it had been stolen but later negotiated its purchase for three wands of flame extinguishing.

Awe manifests as a subtle enchantment making the bearer seem more impressive. When the blade is drawn, all affected beings within sight of the bearer with Wis scores of 6+ must make a Will Save. Those failing will actively avoid seeking to anger or upset the bearer and will hesitate to initiate combat of any kind. Subjects using minding effects or possessing a Wis score of 19+ are unaffected. This power leaves a lasting impression on those who are affected by it, thus, leaving a legendary reputation behind the bearer.

When used together in two-handed style, the wielder suffers no off-hand penalties regardless of his dexterity. When used together as one blade, the sword becomes Takathra, "The Seeker Of Fame And Fortune". History:

The blade Takathra was forged many centuries ago in far off Sidara, the Land of Enchantments. The mark of the blade attributes its crafting as dwarven, but the runes upon it are those of the archmage Aer. Aer is one of a handful of mages ever to successfully produce a pair of sister swords. Sister swords are swords which have the capacity to be separated into two blades and function individually as well as joining into one blade. Takathra was forged to aid in the slaying of the red dragon Maelgas and in the recovery of Aer's Aedile from the wyrm's hoarde. The first wielder of Takathra was the Weaponsmaster Benelar. It was Benelar who supposedly created the legendary Dance of Death tactic, a maneuver now lost to recorded history. Benelar wielded Takathra for over twenty seasons before being slain in the Trade Wars of Cepra. It was here that the blades became separated, apparently by someone ignorant of their joining aspect. Takesha was recorded among the treasures recovered by the Company of the Sun from a dragon turtle's lair off the coast of Sidara. The blade was later sold in Manordale and was used for a time by Tyr Redquiver before being given to an aspiring apprentice named Jardon. Jardon adventured in the Lustred Hills area and was brought down in a giant ambush. The sword apparently traveled north through the Cloudtalons and into the Dulceshae Ridge, wandering with the giants, until it was recovered by Karl Ryrie and brought north to New Dunnam. It is currently in the possess of Maleuk, the Lost Prince “Slayer of Tfargas” whose current whereabouts are unknown.

Atrathra was known to have become separated from Takesha at Benelar's death; its subsequent owners have been many and varied. The first verified appearance of Atrathra was in Stoneforge 240 seasons after Benelar's death. A fighter named Owen brought the blade to the dwarven priests there for identification. Where he found the blade is unknown, however, he sold it to the dwarves of Stoneforge (clan Thunderhammer) for 10000 gold coins. Atrathra was taken into the Cloudtalon Giant Skirmishes by Elmore Thunderhammer, third son of that house, and lost to a thief one night whilst Elmore slept. Atrathra turned up in the hands of the warrior Dagan in 1031CY after a raid on a wererat encampment in the Purlwood. The identity of the blade was established by Erin, Loremaster of New Dunnam. The blade disappeared with Dagan somewhere along the Hethaemiir Coast and was found by Maleuk, the Lost Prince “Slayer of Tfargas”. Again, the current whereabouts of Maleuk are unknown.
