Description:

Gliddan is depicted as a young woman with brown hair held back by a fillet and decorated with feathers. She wears a robe of peacock feathers.

History/Relationships:

Gliddan allies herself with the other gods and goddesses of nature, particularly Cernan. She also enjoys the friendship of Killip as her children sing constantly. Yrinith and Gliddan are amiable as well, Her only true divine foe is Avaia; the Black Swan represents the evil aspects of avians. Their clerics battle whenever they meet. Gliddan also dislikes Sestihaculas and his dragons which pollute the air; she takes no active role against him, however. her church is a small one, and she knows it is a battle she would lose.

Dogma:

Love and nurture our feathered friends. Give them food and shelter; they will give thee beauty and song. Be free as a bird. Sing and go where you wish. Suffer not yourself to a cage of your own making. Oppose the evil things which fly, namely the things of the Black Swan. Make the skies safe for any creatures who take wing into it.

Clergy and Temples:

The church of Gliddan is small compared to many other faiths. She maintains temples in several of the larger cities. These temples double as bird sanctuaries and are filled with all manner of flying creatures. Offerings are made for the birds’ upkeep and patrons come to feed, watch, and listen to them. Birdsong is an integral part of worship where birdcalls are woven together into music. Gliddan supports the efforts of the Blanchouette, having formed the original pact between the elves and owls. She is honored by its members, and they aid her church if aid is requested. There are two sects within Gliddan’s clergy: those who follow nocturnal or diurnal patterns. Followers become more attuned to a specific type of bird as they progress in rank within the church. Upon achieving the rank of high priest(ess) [12th level], the cleric is able to change shape into that chosen bird as a druid does. Those following diurnal patterns pray for spells at sunrise; nocturnal clergy pray for spells at sunset. Gliddan’s clerics do not wear armor, preferring mobility, although they do make use of shields. Gliddan accepts both men and women into her following, although her clergy is mostly female. Elves and humans follow her; other races, besides a few halflings, do not seem interested in Ladyfeather.

Special Abilities:

Gliddan’s priests gain additional special abilities as they progress in their dedication to Ladyfeather. Unless otherwise specified, these powers are supernatural abilities usable at will by the caster only.
